MARBLE IS ...
a natural stone. It’s classified as a metamorphic rock which means it’s created when the heat and pressure from magma and tectonic plates metamorphosize limestone and its key component calcite. Specifically, the calcite crystals grow and interlock or recrystallize over hundreds of years deep within the Earth to create a “new” rock which is marble.
7 REASONS TO CHOOSE MARBLE
1. Ultimate in opulence and elegance.
The cool, smooth, loveliness of marble has been the choice of kings and artists for centuries. In countries such as Italy and India, marble lines the halls, walls and floors of the most beautiful structures.
2. Mesmerizing organic patterns and colors.
Marble is nature’s masterpiece. Its natural patterns and colors occur thanks to the mineral deposits present during its formation. Clay, mica, sand, iron oxides and other natural materials create exquisite hues of red, pink, brown, blue, grey and green as well as unique veining in white or lighter shades.
3. Wise investment.
Marble is prized the world over and will add value and beauty to your home.
4. Artistic possibilities.
Marble is ideal for crafting elegant details such as arches and curves. Afterall, artists Michelangelo and Donatello created their most famous works with marble, specifically the translucent white marble of Carrara, Italy.
5. Delightfully versatile.
From a stunning bar countertop to a luxurious bathroom, a grand fireplace mantel to a simple pastry prep area, marble effortlessly upgrades every space.
6. A chef’s choice.
A marble surface is a must for prepping pastry and other baked goods. Marble’s natural coolness keeps delicate, buttery doughs from melting and its smoothness makes an ideal work surface. Candymakers use marble to temper chocolate and create confections such as truffles and fudge.
7. Attainable luxury.
Adding smaller marble accents is a great way to bring the beauty of marble to your own palace. Try it for a backsplash, fireplace mantel or entryway. Our design team can help you find creative ways to enjoy magnificent marble.
MOHS KNOWS
The Mohs Hardness Scale is used to measure the hardness of minerals, ranking from 1 (softest) to 10 (hardest). Marble averages a 3 on the Mohs scale making it hard enough to withstand a lifetime of use with proper care.
A MARBLE LOVE STORY
When emperor Shah Jahan lost his favorite wife and true love Mumtaz Mahal, his grief spawned the building of a mausoleum of epic proportions. The Taj Mahal, made of gleaming white Makrana marble, is a world heritage masterpiece and a testament to what love can do.
