Traditionally, soapstone has been used as the laboratory tabletop in chemistry labs – demonstrating how chemically resistant soapstone can be!

Soapstone, unlike some other natural stones, is not particularly abrasion or scratch resistant, but is often used as a flooring and countertop surface. It is highly heat-resistant, making it popular for use in fireplace surrounds.

Soapstone usually comes in gray, blue, green, and brown tones – and is often variegated.
